Application Due date February 20, 2024

The MA test has 9 levels:
Beginners I, II, III
Intermediate I, II, III
Advanced I, II, III

The test includes 2 parts –

Performance:

The repertoire for every level must consist of three pieces from different historical music periods and be of an appropriate level. Points may be taken off for pieces that are too easy or too difficult

Advanced III students will perform 4 pieces.

The syllabuses we have created are designed to encourage the young students to consistently work on their technique, gradually adding new elements and increasing the difficulty of the scales from level to level. Successful completion of level nine would undoubtedly indicate a solid foundation of the student’s performance.

At the test, the evaluator will choose one scale in each category. Please, have all the scales ready. If you want to play a bonus scale, let your evaluator know.

Theory:

Test on knowledge of music theory, history and musical forms.

Enrollment is open for all students who’s teacher is a member of BAMA.

Please note: students participating in BAMA’s competitions or festivals will have options to be credited one piece per event entry.*

*Students who participated in one event will play 2 pieces on the test. Students who participated in 2 events, will play 1 piece. Students who participated in 3 events may choose to only complete the Theory part of the test.
